Do you have any siblings?

My little sister, Celeste, is six. I was eleven when she was born, so it was kind of a big adjustment after all those years as an only child. I guess she’s okay as little sisters go, but it can be annoying when she wants to cling to me all the time.

Favorite childhood memory?

When I was a kid, my mom and I used to spend two weeks on Earth during my off-terms from school to visit my grandparents. My grandpa is a retired archaeologist, and I loved spending time with him on his digs in Veracruz before he retired. I’ve secretly dreamed of becoming an archaeologist myself for years, but my mom needs me here on Mars — and you can’t exactly become an archaeologist on a dead planet. Right?

What would you say is your best quality?

I’m good at listening. It’s how I’m able to pick languages up so quickly.

What animal would you love to have as a pet?

There’s an animal I really love, but you might not believe me if I told you about her. She’s not exactly something you might have seen before…

Your biggest secret, if you can tell us here 😉

I’ll tell you, but my secret is dangerous. You have to make sure no one from GSAF finds out about it. I uncovered it — literally — on a field trip to the hills outside of Tierra Nueva. It looked like a rusty piece of metal, but it had strange markings on it that seemed familiar somehow. And it was ancient, thousands of years old. How did something like that get on Mars? That’s another secret, and that one is too dangerous for me to tell you.

What is your favorite book?

Okay, don’t laugh: after my grandpa deciphered the Cascajal Block, he wrote a book about his work on Olmec archaeology, as well as about the language and the culture of the Olmecs. I seriously love it. Not just because my grandpa wrote it! But because understanding the language taught us so much about these people that we never knew before. I love how archaeology gives you a look at what life was like in times and places you never could have imagined before. Sometimes I read it and think… if Abuelo could do this, what could I do? When I read that book, it makes me feel like maybe I’m not just trapped in this life other people laid out for me. I can do something more.

Who is your best friend?

My best friend, Henry, is kind of a jerk. I mean, he’s cool and everything — we’ve been friends since middle school, when we were part of the Cult Classics Club, and he’s great to have on a raid when you’re playing an MMO. But he’s also stubborn, a conspiracy theorist, and a hardcore anarchist. You can imagine how fun he is to be around when he goes off on one of his anti-government rants. Still, he’s always been there for me, especially after we both wound up at the Academy. Neither of us exactly fit in with all the rich kids there, so it’s good to have him around.

Do you have any nicknames?

Henry started calling me “Zak” back in middle school, and it sort of stuck. Even Celeste calls me that now.

Something that you hate

It drives me crazy when adults try to put me in a box. Whether they compare me to my dad, Abuelo, or even my mom’s new boyfriend, it seems no one is content to let me be myself. Even my school seems to want to dictate my life, giving me a scholarship for linguistics that basically conscripted me to a life working for GSAF as a translator. For once, I’d like for someone to see me as myself, rather than some extension of their own ideas.

Your favorite item, whether it be a family heirloom or just something you’ve collected

Not long after my dad disappeared, Henry and I found an old lunch box with some of his possessions in it buried in the backyard. There’s all sorts of weird junk in there — most of it of the sort that could get you into trouble with GSAF — but it’s still nice to have something of his.

Are you in a relationship? and if so what is he/she like?

I’m not exactly in a relationship, but there’s this girl… Well, I’m not sure, to be honest. For years, I’ve had a crush on Tamara, my other best friend apart from Henry. She was my first friend in Tierra Nueva after my family moved here, and she’s one of the few people who really understands me. It seemed like things between us were working out really well before, but then something happened. Stuff changed in ways I never could have expected. And I met someone else. Now I don’t know… Can we skip this one, actually?

any interesting stories you have to tell?

Well, I do, but I’m not sure you’d believe me. It’s hard for me to believe myself. And it’s a loooong story. It would probably take a book to get through it all. Maybe even three.

Thank you so much, Isaak, for letting me interview you today! I loved having you here on my blog!

You’re welcome! It was nice to talk to someone normal for once.

A drastic change within an enchanted Forest occurs in The Falling, the mystical first volume of The Forest Spirit series. Name: Narena (a nymph) :

Lives: Enchantednted Forest

Book series: Book 1 of the Forest Spirit series

age: 18 (although she does get older as the series progresses)

Height: roughly five inches tall

Hair: short auburn hair

eye color: orange

Introduce yourself!

Hi! I’m Narena, a nymph. I consider myself a friend to all the animals in the Forest, but my best friend is a sage salamander named Hawthorne.

Do you have any siblings?

I have a brother, Nyxen, who I live with in our tree house. Our parents sadly passed away when we were young, so we spent most of our childhood living in Nymph Palace with the king. When we were old enough, we moved into our own home.

What is your worst habit?

Closing my eyes when I’m scared! Probably my naïveté as well.

Favorite childhood memory?

Reading all the books in the royal library when I was a child.

What would you say is your best quality?

I’m smart and I know a lot about magic and the Forest’s history.

What animal would you love to have as a pet?

I wouldn’t feel right keeping an animal as a pet, I’d rather have them as a friend first and foremost, like my salamander friend, Hawthorne. I also wouldn’t mind a fox or crow that would let me ride them!

Your biggest secret, if you can tell us here 😉

I’ve had a crush on my childhood friend, Kellen, for most of my life. But please don’t tell anyone!

Who is your best friend?

My brother, Nyxen, and my salamander friend Hawthorne. And Kellen!

Your favorite item, whether it be a family heirloom or just something you’ve collected

Probably my blade! It’s served me well during all my adventures.

what would be a perfect gift to receive?

A crystal ball like the ones the witches have!

If for one day you had no responsibilities, what would you do?

Explore the Forest with my animal friends. I especially like to spend time by the creek near my house.

The last ‘fun’ thing you remember doing?

Hanging out by the creek with Hawthorne, or collecting wildflowers with my brother, Nyxen.

Are you in a relationship? and if so what is he/she like?

Kellen! He’s quite the hunk, very muscular and strong, and he’s definitely my “rock”. He can also be headstrong and stubborn sometimes, but I love him anyway!

any interesting stories you have to tell?

One time I had to travel to Lapis Mountain to try to save the spiritual balance of the Forest. Check out The Falling to find out what happened!

Thank you so much Narena for letting me interview you today! It was so fun! I loved having you here!

Thank you for the opportunity! I had a wonderful time! 🙂

Thank you, T. Damon, for being here with Narena! I had such a wonderful time interviewing you and want to read THE FALLING so I can get to know Narena more!

Title: Golden

Publisher: Snowy Wings Publishing

Pub-date: March 28th, 2017

Synopsis:

When the girl with the golden hair betrays everyone, not even she has hope of surviving.

The stories say that Goldilocks was a naïve girl who wandered into a house one day. Those stories were wrong. She was never naïve. It was all a perfectly executed plan to get her into the Baers’ group to destroy them.

Trained by her cousin, Lowell, and handler, Shadoe, Auluria’s mission …more

twitter logo facebook-icon instagram-logo goodreads-logo

Name: Auluria
Hair: Long, golden hair.
Eyes: blue
Known for: skills in fighting and self-defense, deception, manipulation, and femininity.
Also known as: Goldilocks
Personality: Quiet, smart, and deceptive.

Introduce yourself, Auluria!

My name is Auluria, but you might know me as Goldilocks. The stories say I was a naive little girl who broke into a house and ran away when the family came home. Part of that is true… But I promise you, you don’t know anything about me. I was highly trained and sent on a mission to destroy the Baer family, but the youngest proved himself to be different than I was told. Now my secrets might destroy everyone I’ve ever come in contact with. I’m ready to tell my story.

What is it like having a cousin like Lowell?

Lowell is a hard man to read. He has good intentions and he wants to free our people from the Society. He took me in when my aunt died. He gave me a home and people to belong to. I trust him when he says we need to destroy the Baers to bring down the Society. But he’s also a hard man. I sometimes wish he cared about me more-I feel like my only purpose is to further his cause sometimes. But I’ll do whatever he says. I know he has his reasons…and he’s the only family I have left.

What was your first impression of the Baers after meeting them?

Well, at first I was injured and didn’t remember my mission, so I wasn’t thinking clearly. Berwyn and Eden seem rather…vicious, I now know that they’re exactly what my cousin warned me about. Dov, though…he seems kind. Far too kind. The type of kindness and goodness that will get us all killed one day. He’s selfless, giving, and courageous. I don’t know if I can trust it, but he might be the one exception to the Baer’s group of horrible people. I’m not sure if it’s an act or if he really is that good.

What is your worst habit?

I have very long hair. When I’m nervous, or anxious, or bored, I pull it in front of me and twirl the ends around my fingers as my hands rest in my lap. Most people don’t notice, but I do. Sometimes I forget about my hair being so long and I accidentally close it in doors behind me!

Favorite childhood memory?

I barely remember my family. I have one or two vague memories of my parents. My aunt took my in after they died. She taught me all the things a young girl should know and she protected me from the Society. I used to love to sit with her and wash and mend clothing together. She would tell me stories about my mother and father. She loved me very much. She was always happiest when Lowell came to visit us. She was a good caregiver and I miss her very much.

What would you say is your best quality?

My ability to assess a situation and adapt to it.

What animal would you love to have as a pet?

I think a horse would be fun. The Society soldiers sometimes ride horses through the woods. Once, in the early years of my training with Lowell, there was a cat that visited me sometimes. I don’t generally have a drawing toward cats, but this one was sweet. I might like a dog someday though-they’re loyal and kind.

Your biggest secret, if you can tell us here 😉

I don’t like the man my cousin told me I am to marry one day. We’re supposed to lead as Lowell’s right-hand people together, but I hate everything about the situation.

Do you have any nicknames?

Shadoe calls me Lur. I hate it. Eventually, I’m called Goldilocks.

Something that you hate?

The way my cousin and handler trained me. No one should be treated like that, though I suppose it forced me to learn faster.

Your favorite item, whether it be a family heirloom or just something you’ve collected

I have a few things that belonged to my parents. It’s really the only thing I have from that part of my life.

Your greatest strength?

I like to think it’s my loyalty tot he people I care about.

what would be a perfect gift to receive?

I like thoughtful things. When a person takes the time to really get to know you and makes the effort to do something kind and meaningful specifically to you, that’s the best type of gift. On occasion, my aunt would do nice things for me. She couldn’t afford presents, but she’d make something or do something nice once in awhile. It made me feel special.

If for one day you had no responsibilities, what would you do?

Run through the forest, have a picnic, sit by a pond or lake. I would hide alone into the woods and just have some time to myself with no oversight.

The last ‘fun’ thing you remember doing?

I recently went berry picking. It was part of the mission and actually quite terrifying because Dov Baer was there, watching me, but once I figured out that he was keeping his distance, as promised, it turned out to be pretty relaxing. I ended up with an entire bowl full of berries!

Is there something you could tell us that most people wouldn’t know about you?

I’m an introvert. I’ve learned how to put on a good face for the public, and I like talking to people, but it wears me out. I gain my strength when I’m not surrounded by people, unlike my cousin who revels in it. I’d rather spend time with a small group of people than a large crowd. I adore being by myself when I go for walks out in the woods.

Are you in a relationship? and if so what is he/she like?

Well, I’m engaged to my handler, Shadoe, by Lowell’s orders. But I’m also kind of seeing Dov Baer as part of Lowell’s plan. So…yes? No? I don’t know. Dov is pretty cute though, even if he is my target…

Now, I’ve heard that Silas wasn’t in a relationship… is that true? and is he looking for a relationship? *cough cough*

I’ve only met him briefly, I don’t really know anything about this.

Thank you K.M.Robinson for letting me interview you and your character today!
We will definitely have to have another chat later for me and Auluria to talk about Silas–I mean… the Society and her umm… her mission…

SCEPTER OF FIRE

 CROWN OF ICE

Website

twitter logo

Name: Varna Lund

Book: The Mirror of Immortality trilogy–a series of fantasy stories based on the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen.

(note: CROWN OF ICE the first books, has some of the same characters, but a different protagonist. SCEPTER can be read as a stand-alone, although readers might find it more enjoyable if they have read CROWN first)

Age: 18

height: Average

body type: thin and bony

Hair color: Dishwater brown, straight.

Eyes: Hazel

Other sharp features: slightly hooked nose.

Other: Varna calls herself the “thorn among the roses,” as she is very plain, while her mother and sisters are blonde, blue-eyed beauties. She is intelligent, strong-willed, and compassionate.

INTRODUCE YOURSELF, VARNA!

My name is Varna Lund, and I am a healer. An apprentice healer, since I am only 18, but I have been trained by two excellent mentors, so I am quite proficient in my craft. I am devoted to helping the ill or injured, even if it means I must place myself in danger to do so, and my goal in life is to become the foremost healer in my land. I don’t expect to find love. While I possess a very passionate nature, I am also a realist, and I know I’m not pretty or charming enough to ever expect marriage. Young men are in short supply, anyway, as most are off fighting an emperor who has invaded our northern country. Many have already died in this terrible war, which is made worse by the fact that the emperor has powerful sorcerers on his side. My small village lives in constant fear that the emperor’s troops will overrun our town, and my mother is terrified that they will take over our family mill, which is now run by my mother and older sister, since my father died many years ago. I just hope to keep perfecting my healing skills so that I can aid as many of my fellow countrymen as possible.

Do you have any siblings?

Yes, I have three sisters — my older sister, Gerda, is 19, and my younger sisters, Nanette and Franka are 14 year-old twins. I am not particularly close to the twins, but Gerda and I are best friends as well as sisters. She is an amazing person, who survived a sojourn into the frozen lands of the Snow Queen to save our friend, Kai Thorsen. She even brought home a reindeer who flies and talks! But in our village only Gerda and I know the reindeer Bae’s secret.

What is your worst habit?

I am too aware of my looks. Even though I realize such things shouldn’t matter, it still hurts me when the village boys make fun of me. It also makes me angry, which is another bad habit. I know I should be above such things, but… It’s tough to be the ugly duckling in a family of swans.

Favorite childhood memory?

Once, on a bright, cold winter night, my family went sledding with our best friends, the Thorsens, who are co-owners of our mill. While we were sledding, we heard a pack of wolves singing their unearthly music to the stars. Our friend, Kai, told Gerda and me not to be afraid, and after that we were able to enjoy the beauty of the wolves as they raced over the ice of a frozen pond.

Do you have a quote or a line you like to say?

“I hoist my rucksack higher on my shoulder. Suffering people are lost in this wreckage. I can provide healing, or if no healing, comfort. No fear, no hesitation. Only the call of the injured and dying. Everyone else runs away, as they should. Anyone with sense will flee this hell. But I am a healer. I must walk in.”

what would be a perfect gift to receive?

A firebird brooch, to commemorate a particular relationship. It would be nice to have something to remember…

Favorite song!

I’m not well-versed in music, but I do love one of the folksongs of my country, “The Ballad of the Snow Queen,” especially since… well, that might be something I shouldn’t talk about too much right now!

Are you in a relationship? and if so what is he/she like?

In my heart I am. But I don’t know what will happen in the future. I don’t think I should describe him, as our relationship is something only the two of us really understand, and it could actually prove dangerous to both of us if I talk about to other people.

any interesting stories you have to tell?

I have a story about an enchanted mirror, but it is not entirely my story to tell, so I think I will defer to Gerda, who first encounters this object in a story written down as CROWN OF ICE.

What animal would you love to have as a pet?

I would love to have a wolf as a pet, even though I’m a bit scared of them. But I’ve heard from Kai and Gerda that they encountered a wolf who was quite tame and devoted to a human in their travels in the far north, so perhaps it is possible.

Who is your best friend?

My older sister, Gerda, and maybe, just maybe, a soldier I have helped, Erik Stahl.

Something that you hate

I despise cruelty in any form.

Thank you so much for letting me interview you, Varna! I loved having you here on my blog!

Thank you! I hope you will visit with me again one day. You can find out more about me in SCEPTER OF FIRE and the upcoming third book in the trilogy, ORB OF LIGHT.

Name: Noll

Age: 17

Hair: Black

Eyes: Brown

Personality: Stubborn and Willful (But, she does really care about what’s fair for the people she care about)

Passionate about her feelings but also feels extremely awkward when people grow passionate about her.

Introduce yourself, Noll!

I’m Noll. I live in a village surrounded by mountains with my mother, father, and older sister.

Do you have any Siblings?

yes, one. Elfriede is only a year older than me.

What is your worst habit?

I’m stubborn to a fault.

Favorite Childhood memory?

Playing elf queen and monsters with my dearest friends.

Your biggest secret, if you can tell us here 😉

I’m scared that I’m wrong about my sister. Maybe she really does love Jurij, but I can’t take that risk. If she doesn’t love him, she might kill him at the Returning ceremony.

Who is your best friend?

Jurij. I used to play with a lot of the village boys as a kid because they had so much fun running around and fighting imagined monsters. When they found their goddesses in the girls around the village, they lost interest–except for Jurij. He’s my only remaining friend. He’s kind, soft-spoken, and loyal.

Do you have any nicknames?

Noll is my nickname. My name is actually Olivière, but it’s too pretty-sounding for me.

Something that you hate

Love. That sounds bad, but I just mean… When boys find the goddess in girls, they become different people. They’re changed. They have to obey every command their goddesses give them and it doesn’t seem fair. I wish they could be free.

The last ‘fun’ thing you remember doing?

Exploring the secret cavern in the woods with Luuk, Jurij’s little brother, and Nissa, Luuk’s friend.

Are you in a relationship? and if so what is he/she like?

I… I’m afraid to answer that. I thought I was in love with Jurij, my best friend, but I know he’s found the goddess in Elfriede, which means he’ll never love another woman. Still, even if I can never hope to win his love, I don’t want him to die, which he will if it turns out Elfriede doesn’t actually love him back and still reveals his face at the Returning ceremony. I have to save him. No man has found the goddess in me yet, but that’s fine… I don’t like the responsibility. And I can’t picture ever falling in love with someone else.

any interesting stories you have to tell?

It’s very rare for a girl to reach my age without a man having found the goddess in her. I’m a little worried my man is going to be much younger than me at this rate–or maybe I’ll be the first one in the history of the village who never has a man. At the same time, I don’t know how I’d handle a man being so in love with me, especially if I don’t even know him that well.

Thank you so much for letting me interview you, Noll! I loved having you here on my blog! Hope to get to know you more!

Thank you for having me! I’ve never heard of this blog thing.

Your replies were lovely Amy! — er… I mean Noll! 🙂

Introduce Yourself!

I’m Sam Beckett, I’m 17, and I have no idea why I’m actually going along with this. Marshall said it was important for PR or something but that makes no sense because everything about me has already been printed in the papers- which you already know, because everybody does. It makes lying to suspects a lot harder.

Favorite childhood memory?

Meeting Alex at nursery.

What would you say is your best quality?

Does managing to be pessimist 24/7 count?

What animal would you love to have as a pet?

A dog. I’d love to take it to a crime scene and have it sniff out evidence before Rendell can.

Who is your best friend?

Alex.

Do you have any nicknames?

I got called ‘Ginger’ a lot when I was in primary school, but that was never to my face because Alex put a stop to that. Now I just have Marshall calling me ‘Prodigy’ or ‘Sherlock’.

What is Something that you hate?

Someone asking me if I’m all right then continuing to push me when I tell them I’m fine. They know what happened to me, so why can’t they just leave it alone?

Your favorite item, whether it be a family heirloom or just something you’ve collected

My favorite thing is my bedroom. It’s the only thing which hasn’t changed since my parents were still living together and they weren’t arguing all the time and I had no idea that divorcing was the only option left for them.

If for one day you had no responsibilities, what would you do?

Stay in bed.

The last ‘fun’ thing you remember doing?

Going to the pier with Alex. It’s the last thing we did together, and although there was other stuff going on, it was a break for both of us and it was nice. Even though we wasted a fiver each on the penny falls machines.

Is there something you could tell us that most people wouldn’t know about you?

I don’t like the attention.

Are you in a relationship? and if so what is he/she like?

Ha!

Any interesting stories you have to tell?

I punched a sniper at a funeral.

Thank you so much for letting me interview you, Sam! I loved having you here on my blog! and I forgot to add, bed is always a wise choice!

Thanks for having me, even though I wasn’t given much choice in the matter.

Thank you Rebecca for helping set up this interview with Sam! 😉 I would love to get to know her more, another book adding to my TBR! ❤

I hope you all enjoyed this interview with Sam Beckett!

HAPPY READING, LUVS
